Getting Involved PDF Print E-mail

This page summarizes some of the organizations and opportunities for parents, community members, and supporters to become involved.

Formal organizations include the Friends of Bell, which organizes fundraisers for the school, and the Local School Council, which is responsible for school governance, each have their own section on this website.

The Parent Forum, Family Night Committee, and others are detailed below. The Bell Link and the Website committee both welcome involvement, and after-school clubs and extracurricular activities (for the community as well as for students) do as well. Contact information for many of these groups is available on the Contact Us page.

Bell teachers welcome parent volunteers in the classroom and on field trips, and often provide a "wish list" of items needed.

Parent Forum

The Parent Forum is a monthly meeting open to all Bell parents and chaired by Mrs. Caudill and Ms. Miller. Items discussed include those of interest to the entire Bell community and topics specific to the Neighborhood program, mainly curriculum issues. Meetings usually take place on the second Wednesday of the month and vary between afternoon and evening meetings.  In addition to the Parent Forum, parents from the Options and Deaf department have opportunities to meet.

Fine Arts Committee

The Fine Arts Committee is responsible for selecting the Fine Arts performances provided to Bell students during assemblies several times a year. It meets the first Friday of each month in the school library at 3 pm and welcomes new members.

Family Night Committee

The Family Night Committee creates and hosts several family nights every year, each with a specific theme such as Science Night. All families at Bell school are invited to attend. These events are both educational and fun for the whole family.

Volunteers

You will receive forms necessary for volunteering at Bell School in the folder of information that your child will receive during the first week of school.

Sign Language

Sign Language (ASL) classes for adults are offered at Bell School on selected days.  Classes are taught by Sergio Guzman.
