Classroom Teachers
expand Jessica Anderson - 5th Grade Options, Room 317
Jessica AndersonHello! I am Jessica Anderson and I am delighted to be teaching first grade at Bell this year! Before joining the Bell community, I spent six years teaching first grade and three years teaching fifth grade in Algonquin, a town in the far northwest suburbs. During my last year in Algonquin, my students went one-to-one with technology so every student had his/her own tablet. It was such a rewarding experience because it enabled me to use technology in the classroom with gusto. I graduated from Northern Illinois University with a B.S. in Elementary Education. In 2009, I received my M.A. in Teaching and Leadership from St. Xavier University where my enthusiasm for developing voracious readers and writers grew and continues to thrive today.

I have lived on the north side of Chicago for seven years, after growing up in the suburbs. Outside of my classroom time, I might be reading, at yoga, at a concert, seeking traveling or dining adventures with friends, enjoying most Chicago professional sports teams, or staying in touch with my toddler-aged niece and nephew. They just moved across the country, so FaceTime and Skype have become new hobbies.

Susan KellyI am thrilled to share my story with you. I received a BS degree in Deaf Education from Northern Illinois University in 1985 and was sent to Bell School as a student teacher. I have had the privilege of working with outstanding and dedicated teachers in the Neighborhood and Options Departments in various mainstreaming classes, collaborative activities and trips.

I have been an active member of so many committees that I am unable to recall them all. I am probably best known for my role as the planner of overnight trips. I am very proud of my years here at Bell School, but the best part of my story is my family. I have three amazing children who keep me sane, grounded and laughing. They are most certainly, my pride and joy. I spend a ton of time in hockey rinks and gyms watching my kids play sports. I also enjoy rollerblading, reading, camping and sewing and have recently begun playing ice hockey myself.
